Headstand in the Wilderness
Yoga 1 Studio offers a sacred space for dedicated yoga
practice, suited to the needs of all individuals; each class may have
a different emphasis.
Classes begin with a five-minute silent meditation or
Restorative Yoga posture. Please plan to arrive ten minutes before
class time to set up your place, or to discuss any physical considerations
with your yoga instructor. We take our shoes off, turn off our cell phones
and set up our mats for practice. All of the classes are one and a half
hours long. We use yoga props such as sticky mats, blocks, blankets, chairs
and yoga belts (all provided) to create better alignment in the yoga postures
and to aid in holding the poses longer. Bring your own sticky mat if you
wish.
Class size averages 6 to 8 students. The yoga student
may choose from eight yoga classes each week:
-
Basic Level Yoga for Beginners and Seniors on Tuesday mornings
(9:30-11am) and Thursday mornings (10:30-Noon)
-
Intermediate Iyengar Yoga including handstands, headstands,
backbends and inversions on Thursday evenings (4-5:30pm)
-
Mixed Levels Yoga on Mondays and Wednesdays, both mornings
(9:30-11am) and evenings (5:30-7pm); and Saturday mornings (9-10:30am)
-
Restorative Yoga, a specialized yoga, involves longer
periods of holding poses with props for deep relaxation. We also include
the headstand (Sirsasana 1) and shoulderstand (Salamba Sarvangasana).
Restorative Yoga is offered in regular Yoga classes and occasional
Sunday workshops, and is especially appropriate after hiking in Santa
Fe!
Please call first and listen to the message for any class
changes.
